How To Profit From Selling ‘Kits’ Online…

One Of My Favourite Products To Sell!

Over the last few years, online markets have gotten a lot more competitive. The competition has increased from other UK sellers as well as Chinese sellers.

So, how do we get around this problem?

Rather than selling a single product and competing directly with other sellers, you can…

Create a KIT; a bundle of different items to offer a solution to a particular problem.

This makes it more difficult for both Chinese and domestic competitors who compete against you – as they will then have to source multiple products.

By creating kits, you’re making yourself virtually impervious to cheap competition.

The last product I sold as a kit sold about £100,000-worth through eBay and Amazon.

So, this strategy is based on my own, real-world experiences.

How do you go about pursuing this strategy (especially when you may not know anything about a particular product or niche)? How are you going to build a kit?

It’s actually quite simple.

Search for the best-selling products in any niche – and then combine those products together. That’s basically it.

Let’s go with an anti-cellulite example. A HOT niche. One that’s been around forever! You would go on eBay and see what’s currently selling. There are creams, scrubs, and devices.

Combine all these together. Now you have an all-in-one anti-cellulite solution in a box!

I’m not going to give you the exact products you should combine. That’s really subjective and up to you. But there are plenty of combinations you can create.

You can do a set with a device that you source from China, add in some oil, and maybe some slimming pills. Or maybe combine a massager, brush, and vacuum.

How you put this together is up to you.

The great thing is that you can test this out fairly cheaply. You can simply buy a few different products directly off eBay, bundle them together, and see if you can sell the kit.

You can be in business in a FEW DAYS!

Now, you’re probably going to lose money when you test something out in this way…because you’re buying everything at retail prices. But the key here is to test and see if you can sell it before making an investment in a discounted bulk purchase.

Let’s be clear here: selling any one of these products on their own would put you in competition with sellers. That’s going to make it hard to compete and survive. Whereas selling a kit allows you to create a unique offering that won’t put you in direct competition with these experienced, established sellers.

Anti-cellulite is, of course, just one example of many, many niches.

Here is an example of someone selling a hen night kit.

We’ve all seen the infamous hens. There’s usually a skinny one, a fat one, an old one…and then ‘Gramma’ at the back. They travel around in packs of 10 wearing matching t-shirts, going around town all boozed up, groping the bottoms of handsome men wherever they go. You could put together an ultimate bride-to-be hen night kit.

Again, I’m not going to give you full-on details about which specific products you should include in a kit like this. Do your own research! Decide for yourself what you think is appropriate and what you think would work. But you can see how simple the concept of building kits actually is. Find a niche, find the best sellers. Combine the individual products, and now you have a unique kit.

Also, don’t forget you can also use Amazon for research. You can then transfer the hot-selling ‘kits’ from Amazon to eBay.

Another great example of a kit selling well are these gin-making kits.

If you look closely, there really isn’t a whole lot in these.

You might have an instruction book, a bottle tag, a botanical spice blend, a tasting pipette, filter papers, and some juniper berries. If you buy all the pieces in bulk, you could probably put together this type of kit for a few quid!

Hopefully you see the reasoning behind taking this approach. Anyone can just go to Alibaba, source a product, and relist it for sale on eBay and Amazon. Moreover, the Chinese sellers you would normally source from are selling it on there as well!

Making a kit, on the other hand, is more complex. It helps you differentiate your product from all the other sellers offering generic single products that anyone else can easily offer.

You just have to do some digging around. Browse different categories and look for kits. You’ll find all sorts of different kit ideas.

These types of bundled kit products are a great ‘niche’ for people trying to sell online.

And these ‘kits’ can obviously be labelled however you want to label them. You can create your own brand of whatever type of kit you want to sell. If you want to sell a cheese making kit, for example, you can call it “The Cheese Factory” or whatever you want to call yourself!

This adds another level of differentiation. Now you are selling a brand that no one else on the market can offer – because it’s yours!
